The Good, the Bad, and the Fluffy ...
Last year, we arrived at Essen SPIEL with something we had been working towards for a long time: Shroudfall was there, people were playing games, and the crowds were growing. We had our factions, our Skirmish Packs, our terrain, our rulebooks… but as the weekend went on, we realized that something was missing.
We needed something shiny. A true convention special.
Not just another miniature, but something that would become a little memento of Shroudfall events - a miniature you could get because you happened to be there. So, naturally, we did what any sensible gaming company would do: We went into the thinktank.
One Clynt, Four Factions
We quickly settled on one important rule: An event miniature shouldn't provide any gameplay advantage. Instead, it had to be an alternate version of an existing Shroudfall model - something collectors could add to their collection while still being completely interchangeable with the original miniature on the tabletop.
The choice of character was surprisingly easy: Clynt from the Eastern Forest can be fielded by four of our five existing factions (yes, this is a minor Kazyr spoiler), making him the perfect candidate for an alternate event miniature. Whether you're fighting alongside the Silver Line, following the Spirit Tree, support the Kazyr, or plotting with the Umbral Veil, there's a place for Clynt in your warband.
With that decided, we had one more thing to figure out: What exactly should this Clynt look like?
From Oktoberfest to the Eastern Frontier
Since Essen SPIEL takes place in Germany, our first idea was, perhaps inevitably, an Oktoberfest Clynt. It was considered, it was discussed, and then, thankfully, it was abandoned.
Instead, Florian picked up his pencil and went in a completely different direction. What emerged was an incredible piece of artwork: Clynt in full cowboy attire, looking like he had wandered straight out of the Eastern Forest and into the Wild West. I wonder where he got the inspiration?
Diego then took Florian's concept and turned it into a sculpt, capturing all the character and attitude of the artwork in miniature form. At that point, we had a design, a sculpt, and a deadline: Essen SPIEL 2026. There was just one question left. What were we going to make him out of?
Resin, Partner, and a Little Experiment
We're very happy with the resin we currently use for our Shroudfall miniatures and do not plan to change it. But the Clynt project gave us an opportunity to experiment: Unicool, our long-standing production partner for the Shroudfall Skirmish Packs (you can find a review here), also produces miniatures using their own Unicool Plastic. Their production quality has impressed us repeatedly, so we decided to give it a try - and we were blown away.
The level of detail on the finished miniature was fantastic, from the smallest elements of Florian's design right through to the sculpted details of Clynt himself. It was one of those moments where you take the miniature out of the box, look at it from a few different angles, and immediately start thinking: Okay. We might have to do more of this.
Clynt Rides Into Essen
And now, a few weeks before Essen SPIEL 2026, the shipment has already arrived here in Austria. Blisters of Clynts are currently making their way through our workspace, where we're busy packaging them and getting everything ready for Essen SPIEL, October 22nd–25th.
And yes, we're particularly happy about the blister. Because Florian's fantastic cowboy artwork isn't just what inspired the miniature. It will also feature on the blister inlay, so you'll get the artwork alongside the miniature itself.
Get Your Clynt
If you're heading to Essen SPIEL 2026 (22nd of October to 25th), you'll be able to pick up the Special Event Exclusive Clynt directly from us at the Shroudfall booth. We'll be in Hall 1 at booth 1D112!
And if you can't make it to Essen, don't worry. During this event, and for all special events during the 2026/27 convention season (which starts and ends with Essen for us), Clynt will also be available through our online store. After serving a full season as a Con Exclusive, he's set to replace the "regular Clynt" sculpt.
