Mindwracked Abberations

Horatio Ashcroft watched from behind a veil of crackling thought as his Mindwracked Aberrations drifted forward, their swollen skulls blazing with cold light. Born of his deranged experiments and reforged by Essence Dust, they were no longer flesh alone but living conduits of agony and will. The air bent around them as they moved in silence, lifting stones and splintered roots with effortless contempt. Ashcroft smiled faintly, so long as thought ruled the field, nothing would ever touch them.

From the emerald depths of the Forest came the Chosen, warriors shaped by ancient will and bound to nature’s relentless balance. They knew the truth of this confrontation: if their steel ever reached the feeble Mindwracked, or Ashcroft himself, they would be torn apart in an instant, their fragile bodies no match for such brutality.

Still, that moment never came. Psychic shockwaves ripped through the clearing, hurling the Chosen backward as if the world itself rejected them. Barriers of shimmering mental force bloomed around Horatio and his creations, impenetrable walls of pure will. Within the Mindwracked, whispers of forgotten lives begged for release, drowned beneath the doctor’s command, as mind crushed nature and the battlefield became a silent testament to the tyranny of thought.

The Mindwracked Abberations on the Tabletop

The Mindwracked Aberrations’ frail bodies belie their true power. Though helpless in close combat and no match for even the weakest melee fighters, they are unparalleled telekinetics, hurling enemy models backward with every focused strike of their minds.

At critical moments, they can unleash a devastating psychic surge. Their essence ability, "Mental Meltdown", delivers a powerful mental assault that can stun key enemy units, disrupting plans at exactly the wrong time.

Their greatest strength, however, lies in battlefield support. While no Umbral Veil army can endure sustained ranged assaults on its own, the Mindwracked’s essence ability "Force Shield" significantly improves the survivability of crucial units, often just enough to get them into combat where they excel. Even reality bends subtly around them, enhancing friendly place and push effects through their constant psychic distortion.

Finally, they offer reliable red essence generation at a very low point cost, making them an efficient and strategically vital inclusion in any Umbral Veil force.
