Forged in Essen: A Weekend of Games, Community, and Inspiration

What a weekend!

Essen Spiel 2025 was our very first time exhibiting our new Skirmish Packs, and what an incredible experience it was. We learned a lot in a short time, met many wonderful people, and got to finally share Shroudfall with the world.

Introducing Our Skirmish Packs

At Essen, we officially presented our Skirmish Packs – Starter Boxes for all four factions. Seeing players pick up the models, dive into demo games, and get excited about the world of Shroudfall was an unforgettable feeling. It was a true team effort, and everyone gave their all to make this debut a success.

An Incredible Team

We wouldn't have survived without Leni, Bernd, and Paul, who helped us through booth furniture assembly, coffee machine failures, glue malfunctions and the desperate attempt to teach us why a reel is an entirely different thing from a story. Who knew? Well, now we do. A massive thank-you goes out to the Shroudfall Crew!

The Community Makes It Special

The best parts of Essen SPIEL 2025 was the people we met. From fellow developers and exhibitors to long-time tabletop fans and curious newcomers, the energy and warmth of the community was incredible. We played more demo games than we can count (our voices needed a few days to recover!), but every one of them reminded us why we’re doing this.

Two years ago, we couldn’t have imagined being here - showing our game to thousands of players at the world’s biggest board game fair. Now we’re more motivated than ever.

What’s Next for Shroudfall?

As the saying goes: After Essen is before Essen. 😉

Our studio painter is already hard at work preparing the upcoming releases. You find the teaser for those in the previous blog post.

First High Warden Elara Steelheart will release in the 2nd half November.

We’re also looking ahead to building a solid framework for competitive play. Our team is currently developing a tournament document to support organized events. The next tournament is coming up soon: Steel & fur will clash on November 15th in Vienna. We can’t wait to see you there!
