After their first sneak peek at Essen Spiel, the Sporebound Thralls are finally available for pre-order, ahead of their official release on April 3rd.
The Sporebound Thralls are the first stage of the Bloodthorne’s corruption, freshly claimed humans whose bodies still carry the fading echo of who they once were. Their eyes are glazed, their movements unsteady and unnatural, guided not by thought but by the will of the forest’s dark consciousness. Vines coil through their flesh, roots pulse beneath their skin, and faint motes of sporelight drift from every wound.
Individually weak and mindless, the Thralls advance in staggering waves, untouched by fear or pain. They claw and bite with desperate strength, their lives meaningless beyond serving as vessels for the Bloodthorne’s will. Where they fall, new growth takes hold, and from their remains the forest spreads: patient, unending, and hungry.
The Sporebound Thralls on the tabletop

On the tabletop, the Sporebound Thralls are, quite simply, the worst. They are literally the weakest unit in Shroudfall. But with great weakness comes great efficiency. At just 7 points for a unit of five models, they are also the cheapest unit available, offering incredible value to any Bloodthorne army.
Their strengths lie not in raw power, but in utility. They excel at standing around in control scenarios, occupying key spaces your opponent would rather claim, and absorbing attacks that would otherwise be directed at more important units. They are expendable by design, and all the more useful because of it.
Even with one of the weakest offensive profiles in the game, a cunning Bloodthorne player can still extract surprising damage from them. When properly supported, their volume of attacks and access to layered buffs can turn them from harmless bodies into a real threat.
Synergy Spotlight: Vineheart

No Sporebound Thrall feels complete without a Vineheart behind it to guide it. Vinehearts grant the entire army access to the passive ability Heart of the Thorne, giving all
SPOREBOUND units near them +1 to damage rolls against enemies with an Infested token. It’s a deceptively simple rule, but across a large number of attacks it becomes a powerful force multiplier.
They also excel at applying Infested tokens themselves, ensuring your units benefit from this bonus as often as possible. With their active Essence ability, Thornweave, they can convert surplus Grey Essence into Yellow Essence, helping to keep your resource engine running smoothly. And with that many Sporebound around, you will have some Grey Essence to spare ...
Perhaps most importantly, Vinehearts enable Sporebound units to move in unexpected ways. What appears slow and shambling on paper can suddenly become alarmingly aggressive on the table, closing distances far faster than an opponent might anticipate.
The Sporebound Thralls are now available for pre-order in the Shroudfall Shop. They will officially release on April 3rd, 2026
Have fun eating some brainz and as always ... break the game!
