A journey to Hamburger Tactica: There and back again

On the last weekend of February, we had the pleasure of attending Hamburger Tactica, one of Germany’s most beloved tabletop conventions. This year’s event was particularly special, as it marked the 20th anniversary of the convention and what a celebration it was.

For anyone who has never experienced Tactica before, it is far more than a typical convention. At its heart lies a true celebration of the tabletop hobby in all its forms. Instead of focusing primarily on vendors or competitive play, Tactica shines a spotlight on creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling.

Throughout the halls you’ll find breathtaking dioramas and beautifully crafted gaming tables, each one a miniature world brought to life. Dedicated hobbyists and clubs present these tables while inviting visitors to take part in short scenario or campaign games. These experiences allow guests not only to admire the incredible craftsmanship but to actually step into these worlds and play within them.

What makes the event particularly fascinating is the sheer variety of systems and settings represented. Historical wargames, fantasy adventures, and science-fiction battles all coexist side by side. Many of the tables adapt existing systems in wonderfully creative ways, turning them into unique narrative experiences designed specifically for the event.

And creativity was certainly not in short supply this year. Have a look at a few of these amazing tables we managed to take pictures of:

Bringing Shroudfall to Tactica

Amidst all of this hobby passion and creativity, we had the honor of attending Hamburger Tactica for the very first time as exhibitors. In many ways, being part of such a community-driven event felt like being the “side show”, but in the best possible way. The focus here is clearly on the love of the hobby itself, and it was fantastic to introduce Shroudfall to such an enthusiastic audience.

Over the course of the weekend we had countless conversations with hobbyists, gamers, painters, and curious visitors who stopped by to learn more about the world of Shroudfall. It was incredibly rewarding to see people discover the setting, ask questions, and share their own ideas and excitement.

One of the most enjoyable aspects was reconnecting with many familiar faces we had first met just a few months ago at SPIEL Essen in October 2025. At the same time, Tactica introduced us to many new members of the tabletop community who were experiencing Shroudfall for the first time.

Events like this are a great reminder of what makes the tabletop hobby so special: the passion, creativity, and openness of the community.

Already Looking Ahead

Hamburger Tactica left a strong impression on us. The atmosphere, the craftsmanship on display, and the welcoming community made it a truly memorable experience.

We are incredibly grateful to have been able to participate and to share Shroudfall with such a dedicated audience.

And while the dice have only just stopped rolling on this year’s event, we are already looking forward to returning.

Tactica 2027, 22-23 February, ... we’ll see you there.
